Our Founder

Nicholas Brehl first discovered his passion for tutoring at age 11 while helping a middle school friend prepare for tests. What began as a simple favor revealed how powerful thoughtful explanation and reasoning could be.

Years later, after initially pursuing math and science and then studying political science, Nicholas noticed how often students are taught subjects in isolation rather than as interconnected ideas. This inspired a lifelong dedication to teaching in a way that emphasizes logic, interdisciplinary thinking, and clarity.

Nicholas taught history and later mathematics, where he learned firsthand that students thrive when reasoning—not memorization—is at the center of learning. He saw students gain confidence in subjects they once feared simply by understanding the “why” behind what they were learning.

This experience shaped his conviction that every subject becomes more joyful and achievable when approached with logic and curiosity. Reason Rise Learning was created to bring this approach to students across all grade levels and subjects.
